New family medicine provider Kay-Kay Gambs.

Island Health is excited to welcome Catherine Gambs, MD as a new family medicine provider. A native of Whidbey Island, Gambs was most recently a physician partner at Family Care Network in Mt. Vernon and a family medicine physician at The Everett Clinic in Mukilteo.

Gambs earned her Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California and completed her residency through the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT. She is board certified with the American Academy of Family Physicians and won the silver medal as Best Family Practitioner for Bellingham Alive’s Best of the Northwest (2023).

Building strong partnerships with patients and educating them about their conditions and treatment options is key to Gambs’ philosophy of care.

“I love forming long-term relationships with my patients and being a part of their health journey over time,” Gambs said. Gambs is especially passionate about preventative medicine and helping patients take an active role in managing their own health. She also has a strong interest in sports medicine, adolescent care and conducting clinical procedures such as injections, aspirations and biopsies.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Hogge is thrilled to have Gambs on board.

“We’re looking forward to Dr. Gambs’ extensive knowledge, but also to her deep relational care. One of the things that impressed us most was the desire to educate her patients by meeting them where they are and being a trusted partner in their healthcare journey,” Hogge said.

When Gambs is not at work, she can be found spending time with son Asher and dog Loki, usually camping, taking in the Seahawks or exploring new places. She values staying active and prioritizes regular exercise, principles she strives to integrate into both her personal and professional life.
