About Us

Your local hospital

Island Health is part of Skagit County Public Hospital District No. 2, serving Fidalgo, Cypress, Guemes and Sinclair islands.

Our convenient location attracts patients from north Whidbey Island and La Conner. We also operate a primary care clinic on Orcas Island, serving many San Juan Island residents as the closest acute care hospital in the region. Island Health has five publicly elected Commissioners, who govern our hospital district.

Delivering Courageous Care since 1962

Since its inception in 1962, Island Health has been ingrained in the community serving the region’s healthcare needs. From primary care to specialized services, we have grown up right alongside you.

Over the years, we have evolved to serve as more than just a hospital. In 2007, the iconic dome at Island Hospital’s entrance was removed and symbolically ushered in a new era. 2022 also signified a milestone in our evolution with the unveiling of our new name and logo, Island Health. Our updated name and logo symbolize our commitment to be the best healthcare partner to those we serve.

60 years of Courageous care

Together with our patients, we confront challenges including pain, injury and disease, head-on; every day. We practice courageous care with teams of providers whose talents in medicine are only rivaled in measure by their fortitude. Supporting patients and their families, we triumph in ways that matter — emergency addressed, a healthy child, a rehabilitated injury, a cancer-free body, a life well lived. Sometimes we marshal this bold and daring approach to address obstacles within the healthcare system itself. Across it all, we are committed to advancing the health and wellbeing of our community.
