Island Health Announces Retirement of Chief Medical Officer Jason Hogge, MD
This week, Island Health announced the retirement of family practice physician and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Jason Hogge, MD. After 20 years with Island Health, including the last five as CMO, Hogge will be retiring on July 17.
Hogge made an extraordinary impact on the health and well-being of countless individuals and families throughout Anacortes and the region. His compassion, clinical expertise and commitment to providing exceptional care earned the trust and respect of patients, colleagues and staff alike. As CMO, Hogge helped grow the primary and specialty care base in our community. Under his leadership, Island Health recruited over 20 family medicine providers and over 20 specialty care providers. Hogge was also an integral part in the development and execution of Island Health’s strategic plan, including the expansion of specialized services in the community such as robotic surgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, urology, nephrology and gastroenterology, to name a few.
Hogge said he is grateful to provide care in the community he calls home, and he’s excited for the next chapter at Island Health.
“It has been a true privilege to serve as a family physician as well as a Chief Medical Officer in Anacortes. I am grateful for the relationships I have built with my patients and colleagues, and I’m proud of all we have accomplished together. As I step away from my roles, I do so with immense gratitude and great confidence in Island Health’s future. The work we do matters deeply, and Island Health’s commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care will continue to strengthen the foundation of rural healthcare,” said Hogge.
CEO Elise Cutter shared her appreciation for Hogge’s commitment and contributions to Island Health.
“Island Health is deeply grateful for the many years Dr. Hogge has devoted to caring for the community and leading our Medical Staff. He will be greatly missed. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement,” said Cutter.
Over the next several weeks, Island Primary Care – 24th Street will contact patients to transition their care to another provider, and the leadership team will work to identify a new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Hogge’s patients are also welcome to call 360.293.3101 to discuss transitioning their care.
