The Island Hospital Employee of the Month for May is Anacortes Family Medicine and The Walk-In Clinic Medical Assistant, Anthony “Tony” Penney, MA.

Tony began his career at Island Hospital as a medical assistant in Fidalgo Medical Associates (FMA). While at FMA, he acquired skills in family medicine and lactation services. This past year, Tony has taken on a new role providing direct patient care in The Walk-In Clinic where he has spent countless hours caring for and testing COVID patients. His coworkers say, “Tony treats all patients with dignity and respect. He sets a wonderful example for others with his work ethic, accountability, productivity and overall compassion.”

Since his arrival in 2019, Tony has characterized Island Hospital’s Promise to consistently provide the best customer service to our patients, families, guests and colleagues. Congratulations and thanks for being an inspiration, Tony!
