Taking Care of People Across Their Lifespans

Dr. Caitlin MacCoun joins the team at Island Primary Care – M Avenue providing family medicine and obstetrics care. She is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In a recent interview, Dr. MacCoun shares more about her clinical interests and why she chose Island Health.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being a family medicine and obstetrics provider?

A: I love family medicine and obstetrics because of the relationships I am able to build with patients and their families. I really enjoy taking care of people across their lifespans with all of the ups and downs that life can bring.

Q: What are some of your clinical interests?

A: I find joy in the variety that family medicine brings. I have a special interest in preventative health and wellness, women’s health and obstetrics, as well as sports medicine.

Q: How do you like to spend your time when not seeing patients?

A: I enjoy spending time outside with my husband and dogs hiking, biking, running, kayaking and cross country skiing. I am looking forward to improving my gardening skills and building a hobby farm.

Q: Why did you choose Island Health?

A: I came to the Pacific Northwest to complete my residency and fellowship training. Island Health was an easy choice because my husband and I fell in love with the area.
