Dr. Jeffrey Clemons

Dr. Jeffrey Clemons, MD, FACOG, joins Island Obstetrics & Gynecology – 24th Street Clinic in February, bringing with him a specialty new to the clinic. Urogynecology focuses on correcting pelvic floor disorders.

Dr. Clemons has more than 30 years of OB-GYN experience, most recently with MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, Washington, where he was a urogynecologist and pelvic reconstructive surgeon for the past decade. Dr. Clemons graduated from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and obstetrics and gynecology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Clemons also completed a fellowship at Women and Infants Hospital at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In addition, Dr. Clemons has held faculty appointments at Brown University, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Clemons is proficient in robotic laparoscopic as well as vaginal reconstructive techniques. He is well known throughout the state and the country as a leader in his specialty and has been recognized in Seattle Magazine’s list of Puget Sound Top Doctors for eight consecutive years.

Dr. Clemons’ philosophy of care centers on improving the quality of life for his patients.

“Pelvic floor disorders often cause a tremendous amount of silent suffering; fortunately, awareness of these conditions has increased, as has technology and evidence-based medicine to improve diagnosis and treatment,” Dr. Clemons said. “I enjoy helping patients choose the treatment that best matches their goals.”

More specifically, urogynecology can help treat pelvic organ prolapse, stress incontinence, bladder control disorders and trauma associated with childbirth. Most patients see a urogynecologist either after childbirth or after menopause.

Island Health’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Hogge is excited about the new specialty at Island Health.

“It’s a wonderful addition and complement to our OB-GYN department, but more importantly, it’s a tremendous benefit for our patients,” Dr. Hogge said.

When he’s not treating patients or performing surgery, Dr. Clemons enjoys bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing. He also loves cooking, traveling, attending music festivals and visiting wineries.
