Dr. Whitaker brings experience in rural medicine, nutrition and women’s health to Island Primary Care – 24th Street. Her clinical interests extend beyond rural medicine as she is keenly invested in women’s health, international medicine, and lifestyle and nutritional medicine.
In a recent interview, Dr. Whitaker shares a bit more about her passions and why she enjoys being a family medicine provider.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being a family medicine provider?
A: I am passionate about community engagement and believe in treating the individual, not just the disease. I enjoy taking the time to foster a culture of safety and collaboration with each patient.
Q: What are some of your clinical interests?
A: I have a vast array of clinical interests including rural, international and travel medicine; women’s health; and lifestyle and nutritional medicine.
Q: How do you like to spend your time when not seeing patients?
A: Outside of practicing medicine, I am an avid traveler, both nationally and abroad. On the weekends I enjoy hiking with my family and two dogs, fly fishing and camping.
