Certified Nursing Assistant Jennifer Forney

Department: Acute Care

Working Together to Provide Quality Care

Why did you chose Island Health?

As a third generation family from Anacortes, my roots are here. I came to work at Island Health for almost 10 years in the early 90s, as a certified nursing assistant, receiving the Employee of the Year award in 1996. I love working here now as much as I did then! I’m so honored to be part of this tremendous team. We are a close-knit group of healthcare providers.

What do you love about your field of work?

I have been a certified nursing assistant, or patient care technician, for 35 years and have a deep love of patient care. I come to work with a positive attitude and a desire to help my community. It is very rewarding work.

What distinguishes Island Health from other workplaces you’ve experienced?

We are small but we are mighty! Our team at Island Health treats our patients and each other with compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. We practice courageous care and are truly a committed team.

Sum up your job in one sentence:

My job provides vital support to patients, nurses, doctors and the community.

What would you say to someone considering a job at Island Health?

Island Health cultivates a strong team that works together to provide quality care for our community. We pride ourselves in delivering exceptional care. Courageous care means going the extra mile for our patients and each other.

What do I like about the Pacific Northwest?

As this is my ancestral land, I am partial to the fact that we are able to experience all of the seasons here. This provides the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors year round, whether you’re hiking our Anacortes Community Forest Lands, exploring the beaches or enjoying a day on the water.
