Island Health is excited to welcome Shannon Fernandez as its new Chief Financial Officer. Fernandez, who was most recently Chief Strategy Officer and VP of Billing Services for Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) in Yakima, Washington, starts April 7.

As a financial executive in healthcare operations, Fernandez comes with experience in financial analytics, managed care, reporting, supply chain, revenue cycle and value-based care. She holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Accounting from California State University, Bakersfield.

In Yakima, Fernandez developed the clinic’s first strategic plan and increased outreach by 300% through a targeted outreach program. She also directed and managed corporate billing and accounts receivable processing for medical, dental and case management for the clinic.

Prior to this, Fernandez was Director of Finance and Revenue Cycle at Fred Hutch Cancer Care in Seattle where she oversaw all aspects of financial reporting and accounting.
