Ongoing Career Development
Don’t stop there! Keep developing your skills as a Medical Assistant. The next step beyond Medical Assistant-Registered—Medical Assistant-Certified—is funded by Island Health.
To start your career journey as a Medical Assistant-Registered or Certified, please apply to an open Medical Assistant position on the Island Health website and email our Office of Talent Management with a brief statement explaining your interest in the Medical Assistant-Registered Program. Our Talent Management Business Partner will contact you for an initial screening call. If it’s a good fit, we will schedule an interview and skills assessment. On the day of your interview, please plan to be on campus for approximately 3-4 hours. During this time, you’ll meet with clinic leadership, complete a skills assessment with the MA-R program trainer, and have the opportunity to shadow a Medical Assistant, giving you a comprehensive understanding of the position and training process.
