The Island Hospital Employee of the Month for April is Medical Assistant Sara Castillo.

Sara is pediatrician Dr. Les Richards’ medical assistant in Anacortes Family Medicine. She is incredibly knowledgeable about pediatrics and enjoys working with families. She is talented in her communication with kids and has a compassionate personality – both traits which build trust and alleviate anxiety with her patients. Dr. Richards notes, “Sara is responsible and very reliable. Like a postman neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep her from being at work.” In addition to her work at AFM, Sara often volunteers to take shifts in The Walk-In Clinic as well. According to her peers, Sara is a joy to work with and staff can trust her advice in any given situation. She is always willing to jump in and help without hesitation.
