The Island Hospital Employee of the Month for February is Acute Care Registered Nurse Carie McFarlin, RN, BSN.

As a registered nurse, Carie’s duties include observing and recording patient behavior, administering medications, changing wound dressings, counselling and educating patients and their families on treatment plans and much more. Throughout her time at Island Hospital, Carie has worked in Acute Care, Intensive Care and Labor & Delivery. She has participated on a number of committees including the CSI project (which implemented bedside shift reporting); the Patient Care System core team (which implemented our Electronic Medical Records system); and as a preceptor for Skagit Valley College student nurses. Carie is passionate about her work and shares her knowledge with others.

Since her arrival in 2006, Carie has characterized Island Hospital’s Promise to consistently provide the best customer service to our patients, families, guests and colleagues. Congratulations and thanks for being an inspiration, Carie!
