JoAnn Eastman, DNP, FNP BC has joined Island Sleep Wellness Center as a provider. Eastman, who has been at Island Health since 2019, formerly worked as a family provider at Island Primary Care 24th Street.

Eastman earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky and a Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her two Bachelor of Science degrees are in Nursing, from Loma Linda University, and in Computer Science, from California State Polytechnic University.

Eastman, who has served in healthcare since 1995, has experience not only as a primary care provider and family nurse practitioner, but also as a clinical nurse in outpatient surgery and emergency departments. She currently specializes in sleep medicine and wound care, and says Island Health has helped foster her love for diverse work environments.

“My journey in nursing and higher education has always been fueled by a fascination with the human body and by my desire to help people she said.

Eastman is a member of several medical associations including American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Dermatology Nurse Association and American Family Physicians.
