Island Health is pleased to announce the addition of General Surgeon Mohini Dasari, MD, MS, to Island Surgeons. Dasari was most recently an acute care surgeon at Evergreen Health Medical Center in Kirkland. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her residency in general surgery at University of Washington. She also pursued advanced fellowship training in abdominal transplant surgery at the University of Washington.

Dasari’s focus is diagnosing and treating problems concretely as a surgeon, while helping patients understand what’s happening in their bodies and what choices are available to them. She says it’s a privilege to care for patients during vulnerable times.

“I value the trust patients place in me—often during stressful or uncertain moments—and I strive to listen carefully, to make sure they feel empowered in their decision-making,” Dasari said.

Her experience in a wide range of conditions, from gallbladder disease and hernias to cancer care, impressed Island Health Chief Medical Officer Jason Hogge, MD.

“Dr. Dasari brings a broad and advanced surgical skill set, with extensive experience in robotic and minimally invasive techniques as well as breast and colon surgery. Her comprehensive expertise will be a tremendous asset to our patients, especially those facing a cancer diagnosis,” Hogge said.

Dasari joins the team at Island Surgeons, which includes both gastroenterologists and general surgeons: Mark Donovan, MD; Dempsie Morrison, DO; Friedrich Loura, MD; and Brad Watkins, MD.

Originally from New England, Dasari now lives in Anacortes with her husband and their two young daughters and dog. A woman of many talents, she is a writer and certified yoga teacher, and her first novel was published in January of this year. In addition to writing, Dasari enjoys time outdoors with her family.
