Island Surgeons is pleased to welcome Brad Watkins, MD, FACS to its team. Watkins, who most recently was Medical Director at Optum Health in Bellevue, has extensive surgery experience both in private practice and with hospitals including Proliance, Overlake Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, where he completed his general surgery residency.

Watkins earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, and has since had private practices at Samuel, Stewart and Associates in Louisville and at The Everett Clinic. A Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Watkins strives to take the best available care of patients as possible.

“Minimally invasive surgery, whether it be laparoscopic or robotic, is a strong clinical interest of mine,” Watkins said. “I’m also passionate about recent advancements in reducing pain through surgery.”

A former Associate Professor at University of Cincinnati, Watkins looks forward to potentially sharing his knowledge of gallbladder disease, hernias or colon disease through health classes.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Hogge is excited about the surgical expertise Watkins will bring to the clinic.

“Dr. Watkins has both the general and specialized surgical talent that we were looking for,” Hogge said.

Having grown up on a small farm in Kentucky, Watkins loves Anacortes and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. He and his wife have two adult children living in the area as well.
