The Island Hospital Employee of the Month for May is Certified Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator Almira Opilas in Surgical Services.

Almira is responsible for caring for patients as they recover from surgery. She is compassionate, positive, professional and upbeat with patients. Her co-workers describe her as being a “Ninja-like mind reader” as she quietly and quickly does her job and is always one step ahead of everyone. Almira is dedicated to caring for her patients and often has to be reminded to take her breaks. She is the ultimate team player and is beloved by her co-workers.
