In March 2019, Kaiser Permanente reprocessed claims affecting 3,281 Island Hospital patients. Here is the statement from Kaiser Permanente explaining why these claims were reprocessed:
“Due to a technical issue, claims for Island Hospital have processed incorrectly, using an incorrect allowable amount. The issue has been identified and corrected and claims from 1/1/2018 to 1/24/19 have been reprocessed to reflect the correct fee schedule amount.”
Island Hospital understands that this is very frustrating for our patients. We would like our patients to know that this was not a processing error or coding error on Island Hospital’s part. Island Hospital has been instructed by Kaiser Permanente to direct patients who have questions about their reprocessed claims to contact Kaiser Permanente Member Services at (888) 901-4636.
