The Island Hospital Employee of the Month for November is Registered Nurse Clarisa Shook, BSN.

As an Intensive Care Unit nurse, Clarisa attends to our most seriously ill or injured patients. She is extremely knowledgeable and delivers excellent patient care. Her co-workers say that Clarisa has the most stunningly positive outlook, which is interlaced with a charming sense of humor. Within the department, Clarisa trains new nurses and orients them to our electronic medical record system. They appreciate her expertise, detailed explanations and way of putting everything in a better light. Clarisa is always willing to assist with special projects. Most notably, she participated on a committee that brought bedside shift reporting to Island Hospital and increased patient communication scores with nurses by 10%. Her supervisor notes, “Clarisa is a pillar of strength in the ICU.”

Since her arrival in 2013, Clarisa has characterized Island Hospital’s Promise to consistently provide the best customer service to our patients, families, guests and colleagues. Congratulations and thanks for being an inspiration, Clarisa!
