New pediatrician Amy Montoya, MD.

Island Health is pleased to announce the addition of Amy Montoya, MD, FAAP, to Island Primary Care – M Avenue. Dr. Montoya comes with more than a decade of experience as a general pediatrician. A native of Texas, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio, Texas, and she completed her residency at University of Texas Health Science Center. In addition, Montoya is American Board of Pediatrics certified and is an American Academy of Pediatrics Fellow.

Her clinical interests include newborn care, breastfeeding, allergies, asthma and nutrition. More than anything, Dr. Montoya strives to help patients reach their full potential.

“I think the most important aspect of my job is to listen to my patients and their parents,“ Dr. Montoya said. “I really try to cultivate a calm, friendly environment where they can share what they need in order for me to provide them with the best care.”

Dr. Montoya first fell in love with the Pacific Northwest while visiting with her husband, a native Washingtonian. When she’s not at work, she enjoys live music, reading and playing cello. She also loves hiking and camping with her husband, daughter and very large Australian Shepherd.

Chief Medical Officer Jason Hogge, MD, said Dr. Montoya will be a great addition to the pediatric team.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Montoya and are grateful for the vast experience she brings to our community,” Hogge said.
