Headshot of Sara Weeks, DO

Sara Weeks, DO joined Island Primary Care – 24th Street this week as a new family medicine provider. Weeks earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from University of New England, and she completed her residency at Saint Joseph Family Medicine in Denver, Colorado. Weeks also completed an Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine fellowship in Parker, Colorado, where she specialized in prenatal, postpartum, and neonatal treatments. She is an American Board of Family Medicine Diplomate.

A native of Washington, Weeks grew up on Whidbey Island and is excited to return to her home state. She chose family medicine because it is community-centered and meets each and every patient where they are in their health journey.

“I love family medicine because I’m able to draw on evidence across multiple disciplines to provide continuity of care from birth through end of life,” she said. “I strive to be present with my patients to help them understand the bigger picture when coordination of additional care is necessary.”

Island Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Hogge is looking forward to Weeks joining the team.

“She is exactly the kind of caregiver we were looking for in our search; she has a top-notch clinical education combined with a passion for providing community-based care,” he said.

Weeks says she finds foundational concepts from lifestyle medicine and functional medicine to be crucial. She also loves teaching and writing about nutrition, fasting, sleep and hormones. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking, skiing, hiking, yoga and dancing.
