Volunteers are the heart of our hospital

There are many reasons people choose to volunteer. For some, it’s a way to give back to the community, and for others, it’s a way to develop new skills or build on existing experience. Regardless of your reasons for volunteering, the outcome is a personal feeling of accomplishment and the strengthening of your supportive social network.

At Island Health, we deeply value our volunteers and believe that our Volunteer Services program is the heart of our uncompromising dedication to the community. Contact our Volunteer Services department to find out how you can help put your talents to work, making a difference for our patients and our staff.

The benefits of volunteering

Many of our volunteers have developed lasting friendships through their commitment of time and talent. Although the best benefit of all is the extreme sense of pride and empowerment you will feel, Island Health does all that it can to make our volunteers feel appreciated.

As a volunteer, you will receive complimentary meals at Island Bistro, as well as complimentary coffee and tea. You will also be celebrated at our annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration.

Steps to becoming a volunteer
