The Island Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center at Island Health focuses on wound treatment that is purely evidence based. Non-healing wounds can occur from diabetes, poor circulation, traumatic injury, radiation therapy and other causes. If you are suffering from a wound that won’t heal, we can start by checking blood flow, determining the underlying problem, and creating an effective treatment plan. Our goal is to help you stay mobile, stop the wound from getting worse or infected, and prevent old wounds from coming back. Our primary focus is your health and comfort.
Depending on your wound, we may recommend hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This form of treatment exposes the body to 100% oxygen inside a special chamber, delivering oxygenated blood to the wound, allowing it to heal. It is proven that wounds need oxygen to heal properly and fight infection, and in many cases, it can speed up the healing process. Island Health has two oversized hyperbaric oxygen chambers, that are equipped with the latest computer technology. This is the most advanced wound-healing technique available and has achieved excellent outcomes for our patients.

Island Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine is an Island Health-affiliated clinic. Patients seeking care at this clinic may receive a separate billing for a facility fee. This fee could result in higher out-of-pocket expenses. Patients should contact their insurance company to determine coverage for hospital-based facility charges.
