The Island Hospital Employee of the Month for September is Labor and Delivery Nurse Kathy Wallingford Lee, BSN.

As a Labor and Delivery nurse, Kathy supports and cares for pregnant moms throughout the birth process working closely with physicians, midwives and other professionals. Following the birth, she performs tests on the newborn and provides guidance for the mother on her recovery and infant care. What makes Kathy exceptional is that she is dedicated to her profession. She went back to school while working and raising her family to obtain her Bachelor in Science degree in nursing. Kathy gives exceptional care to her patients, providing support for the whole family. She is able to build positive relationships through transparency, effective communication and active listening.

Since her arrival in 2009, Kathy has characterized Island Hospital’s Promise to consistently provide the best customer service to our patients, families, guests and colleagues. Congratulations and thanks for being an inspiration, Kathy!
